The spas the star: A luxury weekend at Alexander House Hotel, a true Sussex gem

Let me take those for you ladies, bellows the doorman hurrying towards us as we struggle with our luggage towards the very grand entrance of The Alexander House Hotel.

While feeling that I might not be quite posh enough for this place as my rather crumpled little car stands out like a sore thumb in a parking lot full of expensive (or maybe just cleaner?) vehicles I gratefully hand over my luggage.

I neednt have worried, though.

Comfort and elegance: Alexander House Hotel offers a haven of peace in the Sussex countryside

Because, although from first impressions, Alexander House looks uber-posh and therefore (to me) perhaps a little intimidating, it isnt, really.

Yes, it is definitely one of the most luxurious hotels Ive stayed in, with its oak panelling and chandeliers (there are also complimentary helicopter landing facilities although this is only useful information if you have a helicopter).

It also has one of the loveliest suites that Ive ever had the pleasure of sleeping in.

But it is still incredibly friendly and welcoming.

Set within 120 acres of Sussex countryside, Alexander House is a luxury manor house the oldest part dates back to the 17th century with lovely vistas, two restaurants and an award-winning spa.

There is not much more you could ask want if you are planning a mini-break with your best friend.

There are 39 rooms altogether going from luxury (please note this is the bottom category) to full-on suites.

Making a splash: The hotels Utopia spa is a discreet enclave of pampering and relaxation

We are on a spa weekend, so our room, or rather our spa suite, is situated above the spa and set slightly apart from the main hotel.
