Culture on your doorstep: opened in 2012,St James Theatre is in the heart of rapidly regenerating Victoria

LONDON is the cultural capital of the world. And now, theatres and arts centres come as part of the new homes package in exciting ventures across the capital.

There is an endless list of galleries, museums, concert halls, clubs and venues plus the launch of cultural destinations alongside new developments.

One Tower Bridge will offer 376 riverside flats with its own 900-seat theatre, which is set to be London Theatre Companys new flagship home. Established by former National directors, Nicholas Hytner and Nick Starr, developer Berkeley Homes hopes it will gain international recognition.

Few London theatres have been built in the past 100 years, but Hytner believes the time is right. He says: Weve been looking for the right space in the kind of location that could galvanise playwrights, directors and actors.

The auditorium is designed by Stirling Prize-winning theatre designer Steve Tompkins, whose past projects include The Royal Court Theatre. One-, two- and three- bedroom apartments start from 1,475,000. Call 020 7871 0011.

If you are searching for culture in the South Bank, Crest Nicholson is selling three new developments, including Valentine Place in Blackfriars Road. The scheme, offering 150 apartments, will be a short stroll from the Southbank Centre and The Old Vic. Crest Nicolsons Julia Reynolds says they are seeing many more buyers moving into, rather than out of, London as they get older.

They want culture, diversity and all the fun of the city, she says. One-bedroom flats start from 750,000. Call 020 3640 7577.

From 5.95 million: a former office building in St James has been transformed into three lateral apartments, plus a duplex, and also has a ground-floor art gallery. Call Knight Frank on 0207 861 5195.

Also in SE1, two- and three-bedroom apartments are for sale at Newspaper House, with prices from 840,000 to 1,430,000. Call Acorn Property Group on 020 8341 2222.
